His Work is Done

Cursed was man, all hope was lost, ‘til one cursed himself on that wretched cross. He partook of flesh and blood, to receive in our place the wrath of God.

“Cursed Was Man”, Landon Lingenfelter

The above lines are from a song my friend Landon wrote. The entire song is built on Hebrews 10, which compares Old Testament sacrifices to the final sacrifice of Christ.

And every priest stands daily at his service, offering repeatedly the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins. But when Christ had offered for all time a single sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God..

Hebrews 10:11-12

We cannot remind ourselves enough of this central theme of God’s Word. Christ stands in our place as the spotless Lamb of God. Our sins have been forgiven and our relationship with God has been repaired by Christ. Praise the Lord that we have been saved by Him!

A few verses later, the writer of Hebrews reminds us that Christ’s sacrifice has given us direct access to the dwelling place of God. He instructs us to draw near to God and encourage one another, “all the more as we see the Day drawing near.”

Guys, don’t forget to praise God for these truths. Let us serve and worship him until His return.

Christ is seated, His work is done.
